Is Your Project Going To Fail?

Too many projects fail. Any kind of projects – software, financial, personal. You name it. How can I identify the early signs of a failed project? How can I lower the risk? How can I avoid the failure?

Here is great simple checklist of failed projects that can be  easily applied to your project too. Taken from 12 characteristics of doomed projects:

  • Doesn’t meet expectations.
  • Lacks change management processes.
  • Lacks project sponsorship.
  • Insufficient resources or budget are available.
  • Team doesn’t report or escalate critical problems quickly.
  • No risk planning.
  • Schedule delays and missed commitments are rampant.
  • Project is over-budget with no end in sight.
  • Low morale is a problem.
  • Uncontrolled scope creep abounds.
  • Project direction and end-game aren’t clear.
  • Showstoppers haven’t been identified.

Start asking these questions and make your project successful.

    Hey Alik –

Good rundown. If I had to tell folks just one thing that would help success, it’s find a way to flow value. Don’t make stakeholders wait for value in the very end … deliver incremental value along the way. It builds momentum and trust.
